Hospitalists Services

Hospitalists are Highly Trained Internal Medicine Physicians Who Provide Care to Patients:

  • Who do not have a physician on staff at Carlisle Regional Medical Center
  • Who require emergency care in the hospital
  • Whose physician no longer provides hospital care

    Around-the-Clock Inpatient Care
Hospitalists are available around-the-clock, 24 hours-a-day, every day in the hospital to:

    • Speak face-to-face with you and your family
    • Be available if a complication arises and, if necessary, write orders immediately
    • Make the hospital an easier place for you to be
    • Efficiently coordinate your pre-op and post-op needs
    • Assist your Primary Care Physician by helping coordinate care while you are in the hospital
    • Take care of urgent situations
    • Specialize in the care of patients in the hospital as medical science and hospital technology become more complicated
    • Efficiently coordinate a timely discharge through prompt response to lab and X-ray results, consultants’ recommendations, and your condition if it changes
    • Thoroughly discuss medical and ethical issues with you and your family
    • Specialize in the unique needs you have during your stay
    • Take steps that ensure your Primary Physician is informed about your care
    • Help you transition back to community care after discharge

Hospitalists Team up with other Physicians to Optimize Care

    • Hospitalists are here to provide answers to your and your family’s questions whenever possible. Since hospitalists are available 24 hours a day they are usually able to spend more time talking to you and your family about your care.
    • Hospitalists remain in the hospital 24 hours a day so that if you need urgent assistance from a doctor, the hospitalist will be available to treat you promptly.
    • Hospitalists help your primary care doctor to be more available to you. Because hospitalists are in the hospital all day, your doctor can be with you in the office with fewer delays and interruptions. Your primary care doctor will then be able to devote more time to keeping you and your family healthy. At the same time, your hospitalist is readily available to you in the hospital to care for you when you are at your sickest.
    • Hospitalists will be keeping your primary care doctor involved in your care. At the time of discharge, the hospitalist will communicate with your family doctor to coordinate all aspects of your follow-up care.
