Balloon Sinuplasty Carlisle Outpatient Surgery CenterServices

Hope for Sinusitis Sufferers

If you suffer from chronic sinusitis, a new outpatient procedure at Carlisle Regional Medical Center's Outpatient Surgery Center could help you find the relief you've been searching for.

Sinusitis occurs when the sinus lining becomes swollen and prevents normal mucus drainage, which leads to an array of troublesome symptoms, including headache, fatigue and bad breath.

Carlisle Regional Medical Center's Outpatient Surgery Center now offers endoscopic sinus surgery with Balloon Sinuplasty technology to help avoid inflammation and restore normal sinus drainage.

"We are very excited to be able to offer this surgery to our patients," says Richard E. Ferraro, MD, otolaryngologist on staff at Carlisle Regional.

"Balloon Sinuplasty restructures the natural opening to the sinuses, resulting in fewer complications following surgery."

A NEW OPTION
Dr. Ferraro and Adam Abram, MD, otolaryngologist, currently perform this procedure in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Balloon Sinuplasty utilizes a small, flexible sinus balloon, which is inflated in the sinus cavity to open the previously blocked nasal passage and restore proper sinus drainage.

The benefits of the Balloon Sinuplasty procedure, in most cases, include an improvement over previous treatment options in safety and effectiveness, less invasive results to nostril tissue and bone, reduced bleeding and shorter recovery time.

"The nurses and physicians who work here are dedicated to the holistic care of our patients," says Susan J. Stuckey, RN, CNOR, MSN/MHA, Administrator of the Carlisle Outpatient Surgery Center. "Bringing this new sinusitis procedure to community members is just one more way we prove our dedication to providing the latest technology possible."
