New Carlisle Regional Medical Center CEO Rich Newell Announces Leadership Team

New Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Nursing Executive have more than six decades combined in Central PA

CARLISLE, PA (May 9, 2022) – New Carlisle Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Rich Newell today announced his leadership team. Chief Operations Officer P. Mark Harmon, Chief Financial Officer Mike Johnson and Chief Nursing Executive Ann Spade have more than six decades combined in Central PA.

“I’m honored to welcome Mark, Mike and Ann into their leadership roles on my team,” said Newell. “They’re each outstanding community members who’ve demonstrated a vested interest in Carlisle and the surrounding communities. I know they’ll go above and beyond to help our team deliver the highest possible level of care to each and every one of our patients.”

Harmon is a 24-year member of Carlisle Regional Medical Center team. His previous roles include assistant vice president of administration, vice president of human resources and, most recently, associate administrator. He is the vice chair of the board of trustees for the United Way of Carlisle and Cumberland County, a member of the board of trustees for Leadership Cumberland, and a member of Carlisle Rotary Club. He holds the following degrees: M.S. in health services administration, Ohio University; M.A. in human resource management and industrial relations, St. Francis University; M.Ed. in adult education, Ohio University; and B.S. in health information administration, Alderson-Broaddus College.

Johnson is a 20-year veteran of the health care industry, including more than a decade of experience in health care finance. Most recently he was CFO for two Lancaster area hospitals, Heart and Lancaster Regional Medical Center. He is a board member for both the Lancaster EMS Association and the Imaging Center of Lancaster. Previous to joining the south-central Pennsylvania community, Johnson served in the New Jersey Air National Guard for 16 years. He holds an M.B.A. from Rutgers University-Camden and a B.S. in finance from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.

“Mike is a great leader with strong ties to south-central Pennsylvania,” Newell said. “He has a solid track record, and I’m confident he’ll be a key player in helping Carlisle Regional Medical Center grow and develop into an even stronger, positive community presence.”

Spade is in her third decade of service at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Her roles have included registered nurse in obstetrics, labor and delivery; women’s health educator; and director of education. As chief nursing executive, she leads a team of clinical directors and managers to ensure all patients receive outstanding, evidence-based, compassionate care. Spade is a member of the Nursing Program Advisory Boards at both HACC and Penn State Mont Alto. She is active in the medical center’s annual Relay for Life team and the Carlisle Area Health and Wellness Foundation, and completes volunteer work for her local church. She has an M.S. in nursing from Regis University in Denver and a B.S. in nursing from Villanova University, and is certified in nursing professional development.

“Ann is an outstanding medical professional with a gift for leadership,” Newell said. “She uses her first-hand knowledge of patient care to guide her team in providing truly exceptional care to all patients. Both on and off the job, Ann does a lot to help those in our community.”
