This notice is regarding a possible change in Carlisle Regional Medical Center’s relationship with Gateway Medicaid that will affect your “in-network” access to care at CRMC. Gateway Medicaid will terminate its contract with our hospital on 12/31/2012. Effective January 1, 2013, Carlisle Regional Medical Center will no longer be “in-network”.
You may have already received a letter from Gateway informing you of this change and their recommendation to switch healthcare providers. I am writing to let you know that you do not have to switch healthcare providers, as we accept other Medicaid health plans. Carlisle Regional Medical Center remains in network with the following Medicaid health plans: Aetna Better Health, Amerihealth Mercy, and United Healthcare. If you choose to switch to one of these plans before January 1, 2013, you will be able to continue your care at CRMC without interruption of coverage.
Health systems and insurance companies negotiate new contracts all the time, and most of the time these things are settled with no interruption in access for our patients. Unfortunately, not all negotiations go as smoothly as planned, and today, we find ourselves in this position with Gateway Medicaid as they elected to terminate Carlisle Regional.
The good news is that Pennsylvania Members with Gateway Medicaid insurance have the right to change their managed care health plan at any time to ensure their provider of choice is “in-network” by contacting PA Enrollment Services at 1-800-440-3989 Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm and Saturday 8am – 12pm.
We all play an important role in improving quality and efficiency, and insurance companies must do their part too, and that includes fair payments. Again, CRMC remains “in-network” with the following Medicaid health plans: Amerihealth Mercy and United Healthcare.
